How we are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic
At this time of local, national and global crisis we are seeking to continue to worship God whilst following the guidelines set out by the government and continue bless both our local and the global community.
Our Sunday services are streamed live each week on our YouTube channel
Children and Youth
Our regular children's and youth groups can no longer meet but the Sunday G-team and midweek Explorers groups for children is sending out material for the regular attendees to do in their own homes and the Youth group meets virtually for its midweek meeting and have a pre-recorded youth-oriented video to watch each weekend put together by the youth leaders.
We continue to provide food and baby item parcels in association with the Watford food bank. The church is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays (11-1) for this purpose
Prayer Space (Monday-Thursday 11am-1pm)
The front worship area will be available for private prayer and reflection. We hope this will be a positive step for the spiritual and mental well-being of people who are part of SOBC and any other people who may like to come along. Hopefully, it can be an oasis of peace and a place to meet with God.
Please read this all the way through before coming
Initially we will be open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for 2 hours a day on a trial basis for 2 weeks. We will have a minimum of 2 people supervising the building. The space be will be available during food bank times on the Tuesdays and Thursdays – although there may be conversations taking place nearby so it may not be as peaceful.
We have set it up and will run it with safety as a high priority – this will include cleaning chairs between visitors.
The prayer space is not a place to have collective prayer, worship or a conversation. The garden is available for prayer and conversation to be used in line with current guidelines on number of people and social distancing.
Rules to keep everyone as safe as we can
Access will be via the fire exit door straight into the worship area to keep cross contamination possibilities to a minimum;
Follow any signs and any instructions of those supervising;
You shouldn’t need to touch anything apart from a chair (which will have been cleaned before your use). If you would like a Bible, please bring one.
Observe social distancing at all times;
A very limited number of people will be inside at any one time. It is possible (fairly unlikely) that you may need to wait outside for a while before entering. The supervisors will have instructions on this.
Please respect that this is a quiet place.
Don’t come if you have any symptoms of COVID-19!
During the two weeks we will assess whether to continue and if so whether to make any changes.
We are seeking to interact with our local and wider communities through
