Teaching on Sundays

Teaching

As one of the main parts of our services we study a topic or section of the Bible. In the future we will put more information in this section. Hopefully, this section can already be useful as an introduction for you if you would like to find out what we have been looking at or as a reminder for those who were there. If you are new to the Bible or to church then you may find the section more on the Bible.

Teaching in Sunday Services

This section is intended to give you an idea of the subjects that we are looking at in our services. Bible verses are given so that you can look up the references and gain a better understanding, or be reminded, of what the message was about. Click here if you aren't that familiar with the Bible and would like a short introduction. Also, if references like "2 Peter 1:3-4" don't make much sense to you then have a look at Bible and Bible references for an explanation.

Mornings
What to look out for in 2011

We anticipate 3 major strands to Sunday morning teaching, along with some special services on other subjects.

1. Luke's Gospel
We have sought to know Jesus and how to follow him better through looking in depth at Luke's Gospel. We now look at Jesus' death for us, and his death defeating and life changing resurrection. We will also look at Luke's account in the book of Acts of what happened next as Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to continue his ministry in and through the lives of those who believed in him. We are now called to be part of the ongoing story!

2. Discovering your SHAPE and how to us it within the life of the church.
When anyone becomes a Christian they become part of the body of Christ. This is made real and practical as we become part of a local church - with a sense of belonging and participation. SHAPE is an aconym developed by Rick Warren (pastor and author of the Purpose Driven Life) which we are exploring to help us understand the way God has made us each unique, with a special contribution to make for the good of the whole church and those beyond and for glory of God. SHAPE = S pritual Gifts; H eart; A bilities; P ersonality; E xpereince.

3. All of life in Jesus's name.
Related to our unique SHAPE, but with the focus on life beyond the gathered church we will look at how we can live the whole of life - home, family, work, leisure, shopping?! etc... in light of the verse in the Bible: And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)

A flavour of previous subjects:
